for this asighnment I'll be writting explaning step by step what we did
10:00am on a tuesday our group members where ment to be there for an 3hour studio session and in this session we was given a task to create four different types of audio files
we started out by plaining together, we decided we was going to use the an dynamic D6 microphone for one of our group member to sing on. then we used the Titanium condenser microphone microphone to record the acoustic guitar.
The set up for the D6 mic was done by first using the pedalstool to hold the microphone then you made sure we used a cable with wife/husband plug we plugged it on to the wife part on to the husband part on the port 1. For the guitar we wanted used an AMP to make the sound louder so we plugged in the AMP on the soccet then we we used the microphone we agreed to use the Titanium microphone before we conncted the microphone we made sure that the stand was apropriate for the mic and we also made sure the mic was getting the full frequency of the AMP
After we checked that the every thing was safe and ready we in the recording area we went ib the control room at the begining we done a quick recap of what we new amogst our selfs we made sure we knew what channel the microphone was, at about 10:35am we started to test the mics we tested the guitar mic first with the condenser mic then we tried to test the vocals from channel 1 dynamics mic D6.The D6 mic wasnt stoped working and it took as a long time to fix the head phones we had help from the sound engineer and he showed as where the falt was with the headphones we forgot to put the master sound on for the head fones ofter intead of wasting more time on the D6 we decided to use the Titanium instead to record the vocals we done a quick test to see if every thing was okay.
The recording went well we only had to do about 4 takes with the guitar due to the timing being wrong then we done a quick recording of the singers voice.
at the end we struggled with the sound we wanted a loud full sound from the guitar but intead the guitar sounded really quiet, time was running out and we needed to record the guitar and the vocals again so we tried everything again we managed to do it in one take that time.
at the end we made sure the rooms was ready for the next group to use and we left every tidy left the cables on the right place and then we made sure that all of the channels was on the right place.

DJ Equiptment
A Disc Jockey
The first turntables invented were for DJ was made in 1974 the "direct-drive" SL-1200 released by Technical. DJ's are disc jokey they are responsible for hyping up the crowd with music they play. They introduce songs and play popular tunes. Decks were not originally made for DJing but just to play music.
The basic equipment they need is speakers, a turntable, headphones, a mixer and vinyls if they are using analogue turntables. However if the DJ is using Digital decks then he would need a PC or laptop, speakers, a DJ software (Traktor), Mixer, Pad machine, microphone headphones. The equipment depends on the DJ's preference.
People love the warm sound vinyls produce, rather than the clean sound of digital. You can make a collection that no-one else has with vinyls which can cause you to feel accomplished. However you will definitely spend more money on vinyls because not all tracks these days are released on vinyl. You have to take care of vinyl but when you use them for DJing you could damage them. You have to carry vinyls from club to club which could start to frustrate the DJ especially if he doesn't have much love for vinyls. If you take your House vinyls to a R&B club you are in trouble but if you was using digital then to solve the problem all you would have to do is click onto another folder. If you break the needle and you don't have a spare one your also in trouble.

Turntables
Turntables were used to play records, The volume fade is to increase or decrease the volume and a turntable has a Dust cover's job is to protect the turntable from dust. The needle is connected to the tone-arm which holds the needle in place so it can play the music on the vinyl. The pitch control is used to change the pitch of the song, power button is to turn the turntable on and off, speed calibration ostrobe is used to make the two different speeds of the song the same, platter is where the vinyls is played, the play button is to play or stop the record.
Digital

Digital decks are the upgrade of turntables. You can show the same amount of skill when using digital, its easier, you don't have to carry heavy crates of records because you can carry a large amount of music with the laptop and if that isn't enough then their are memory cards. It is cheaper too loads of music online for a great price and if you want an new exclusive track you can get it sent to you through email. Most music these days are released in the MP3 format, record companies don't spend their money on records if they can sell it in a cheaper, popular format. On the other hand there are people out there collecting vinyls so there is also money to be made in that part of the music industry. Instead of relying on technology they can show their skills on vinyl and people might remember them for this. The only big reason i think people can't let go of vinyl is because of the sound and they don't want to be accused of not being a 'real' DJ. I think it depends on the person.
DJ TLMI agree with DJ TLM i think he talks a lot of sense. TLM is saying that a DJ is someone who has skills, musical knowledge, originality, creativity. None of that can be found in awith in a software. The reason why this is true is because the button or knob may turn into the click of a mouse but you still need to know when to drop the next song or even what song to drop it with.
Here DJ Rodigan using CDs he was using vinyl before but he has upgraded. I'm sure there will be a time when CDs are no longer made and DJ Rodigan make an effort to upgrade again and he will still be as good as he is now or has ever been.
A lot of people would support my view, if you can DJ in an easier way and still get the same reaction from the crowd then why technology? I am not a vinyl lover and I'm not a digital lover either but if one is slightly simpler than the other then i know which one I would choose.the truth is, it depends what on the type DJ you are, if they are passionate about vinyl then then use vinyl to increase your scrachting techinque but if your all about the hits and the banggers then use digital. All I can say is that is a lot of practice gets a DJ places whether digital or analog.

Hear and Identify
Hear and Identify 1. at 00:03 there is a loud cough, it seems that the singer coughs straight into the microphone, because this is a studio recording the sound engineer could have made cut out the section from the track to make it more professional. the singer could have tuned his head away from the microphone. 2.00:02 there seems to be a bit of background noise, it cound be that the gain of the mixing console is tuned up too high or the singer could have stepped on the pedestal making the background noise. Tuning the gain of the microphone down would have decreased the chance of any background noise. 3.00:21 the singer sounds like he went out of time for about 3 seconds. "and the degree of independence" sounded like he was reading from a sheet. The sound engineer should have made another take and the singer should have memorised his words before recording. 4.00:16 when the singer was singing the word performance, the first three leters"per" become plosives which happened because the microphone didn't have a pop shield to stop the plosive from happening 5.00:30-00:48. when the second verse started then the synth started with the vocals. The problem was that the synth was way too loud making the listener lose/ forget about the rhythm section. What the sound engineer should have done was to mabe make the synth start quieter then increase the sound slightly by using automation tools. 6.00:30-00:48 also during the second verse if you listen to the track carefully you can hear harmonies. The harmonies are in tune for most of the time but it's really hard to hear it because the backing vocal is way too quiet.what might have improved the mixing is if the engineer records the backing instruments first and then the main vocals after the harmonies on separete grinds in logic or pro tools. By doing that he would have had to change the volume for each instument and for the vocals he would have found any errors and would have been able to make the harmonies come together.
7.1:00. the vocalist went for a long note at the pre chorus but the note in which he was at sounded flat. this could be due to the lack of water, not enough traning or it could possibly be the fact that he could'nt hear himself because the instruments were so loud. a way to improve this is to do vocal exercises to get the vocals ready and to maybe turn down the instruments so the singet can hear himself sing.
8.1:48.the singer went for a big finish at the end.His voice was fine but it didnt match the note the instrument was playing, in fact it sounded like the note he was hitting was higher, indicating that the note he was singing was a sharp higher than the actial note he was meant to reach. what he could have then done to improve is to improve his listening skills so he can reach the right note.
