The music industry is a very active business, there are so many different jobs and areas involved with the music industry. But i am going to talk about four areas of the music industry that i find interesting and that are involved hugely with the music industry, these four areas that i will be talking about is: live performance, music publishing, record companies and artist management These four areas are very active in the music business.
Live Performance - Live performance is one of the most important areas because when a artist gets their manager and the manager helps the artist gets published and then books them a live performance session. In the live performance the artist has their chance to show what they have to offer and build a fan base by connecting with the audience and getting the audience to show their material to the rest of their friends. Sell their EP's or Cd's in the live performance to get people interested in the artist's music and show it to the rest of their friends and family. The live performance session is really important for the artist because it helps the artist build a fan base and connect with the audience by telling the audience information like their twitter or Facebook page so the audience can go and follow their pages and get their friends and family to follow as well. It is also very important because if the artist performs really well the audience can see the artist is not fake and they have true talent.
Music Publishing - Music publishing is where the artist's gets their music published into entertainment like film soundtracks, TV adverts, music stores etc. The problem is with music publishing if the artist didn't compose and write the songs, the composers and writers get the money for their composing and writing. The artist gets money for performing the songs but the song writers and composers gets %50 of the money. The artist would get fame for performing the songs and being on the image of the albums and singles but the song writers and composers have their names published that they are the composers and song writers and they also get more money. So for that reason it is better if the artist composes their own songs so they earn more money and people would respect them more.
Recording Companies - Before the artist's music gets published the artist needs to record their tracks, but before the artist records in a recording studio, the artist manager and the artist need to find the the right recording company to sign with because not very recording company is going to want to sign with this certain artist, so the recording company has to sign a contract with the artist manager. But the artist manager and artist manager have to be careful that the certain recording company they sign with isn't hard to work with and are friendly with the artist and the artist management.
Artist Manager - For an artist to get majorly famous they need an artist manager to help them but not in all cases but usually the artist needs an manager to book the artist gigs, book the artist interviews, get the artist connections with people, socialize for them and goes to meetings with the artist. The artist manager and the artist have to have a good connection with each other, have a good relationship as in get a long and trust each other, it is very important that the artist can trust the manager because some managers can use the artist and take their money and if something goes wrong the manager can give the artist a bad repetition because of the managers bad past and lie to press to give the artist a bad reputation. So the artist has to be careful and not rely on too much help.
